The president of the Parliament and candidate for Junts in the last Catalan elections, Laura Borras, is reluctant to accept a secondary role in the new Junts management team that will emerge from the June congress. According to her environment, the leader still does not rule out running for the highest position of responsibility, which right now is the general secretary. She, therefore, continues without accepting, from the outset, the pact that ‘consellers’, territorial leaders and party officials have demanded so that Jordi Turull take the baton and she holds the presidency of the party.
Borràs remains silent and has demanded that the formation let her negotiate with Turull without external pressure. On the contrary, she has not accepted the proposal that is included in the manifesto signed by leading cadres, and which places her as president, replacing Carles Puigdemontbut under the command of the ‘exconseller’ turull.
Always according to the environment of Borràs, the president does not rule out standing up and seeking her own candidacy for the general secretary, submitting herself again to the vote of the bases (about 6,000 members), since she has already clearly prevailed over her rival, Damia Calvetin the primaries that decided the poster for the last Catalan elections.
all open
The current leadership of the party ensures that, a few days before the candidacies must be presented -the deadline is next Tuesday, May 10-, there is still no pact between Turull and Borràs to reach the June congress with a cohesive direction. It is feared that the President of Parliament, despite her manifesto with numerous weighty signatures, wants to fight for her interest in obtaining the maximum internal power. The aforementioned manifesto leaves the door open for her to repeat as electoral candidate and, even, it can obtain a certain internal weight in the executive that leaves the congress on June 4.
The leadership maintains that there is still no internal pact to avoid a confrontational congress
What’s more, in his farewell letter as party president, Puigdemont asks that his successor may have “a most involved presidency“than the one he has held. Someone adds to make it clear, that he “fully participate” in the meetings and decisions.
five phases

That would be, they say in Junts, the reasonable and logical way out. A territorial leader with party experience makes a practical summary, after Tuesday’s manifesto, about Borràs’s reaction. Phase 1, take the hit; phase 2, shielding; phase 3, wouldn’t it be better if we agreed?; phase 4, acceptance of reality; phase 5, better to agree and be in than to go to war and lose.
This phase 5, according to this version, will arrive at the time of formalizing the applications. Meanwhile, Turull maintains the silence that has been self-imposed. His tactics have always gone through an intense agenda of public events in municipalities throughout Catalonia with a message based on the willingness to contribute to the projectwithout entering the mud of the pre-congress battle. However, in view of the calendar and after the numerous signatures of the manifesto in his favor, he must take a step forward -or not- in a matter of days.
