Big names such as Sanne Cant and Lotte Kopecky were present in Middelkerke in Belgium, but they were surprised by a group of seven riders. They approached the front runners just before the finish, but just couldn’t get there anymore. De Baat finished just ahead of Fien Van Eynde and Sara Maes.
De Baat, now 31, was born in Rotterdam, but took Belgian nationality in 2015. De Baat has only had one professional victory in the past ten years and takes the most beautiful victory of her career with the Belgian title.
