We are only just on our way to 2024, yet Drenthe has already welcomed its first acquisitions. A child was already born this early year in the Wilhelmina Hospital Assen (WZA) and the Emmer Scheper Hospital in Treant.
At 12.46 pm on New Year’s Day, rusk with mice could be distributed in Assen because of the first child born in the WZA in 2024. The new parents immediately took advantage of the new legislation. Since January 1, they have been able to give their offspring a double surname. And that is exactly what they did. The child now has a Dutch and a Spanish surname.
Parents at the Scheper Hospital in Treant in Emmen could not believe their luck either. Jurre was the first baby there in 2024. No children were born in the hospital in Meppel. There is no obstetrics department there.
