Under the sanctions, the Russian authorities are considering the possibility of increasing the serial production of Il-96 and Tu-214 passenger aircraft, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Borisov said.
“Today they are produced in small series for special customers. Together with colleagues from the transport bloc, we are completing the analysis of the need and priority measures. Based on the picture that we get, we will probably use the reserve for the additional production of these aircraft, too, ”he said.

Il-69 is a passenger wide-body aircraft for medium and long haul flights. It was designed at the Ilyushin Design Bureau in the late 1980s. The aircraft is designed for 300–450 passengers and has a flight range of 9,000 km. Produced at the plant of the Voronezh Joint-Stock Aircraft Building Company. The IL-69 uses a special flight detachment (SLO) “Russia”, which also includes the presidential aircraft.
Tu-214 is a medium-haul narrow-body aircraft developed by Tupolev. Its first flight took place in 1996. The Tu-214 aircraft is used by the Rossiya SLO, the aviation of the FSB and the Ministry of Defense. On the basis of this liner, various modifications are also being created to solve special tasks – reconnaissance, relaying, and control.
