Johnson has come under fire for a series of drinks, parties and gatherings during lockdowns in and around the official residence at 10 Downing Street. An independent investigation was launched by a top official and the result could now be handed over to the Prime Minister any minute.
London police are also investigating at least eight violations of lockdown rules. “We have requested information, but we have certainly not asked for the report to be changed or postponed,” it said. Those rumors have been doing the rounds for a while.
Top civil servant Sue Gray’s report is now expected to be published next week. But British media remain convinced that information that would harm the police investigation will not be available for everyone to read for the time being. The opposition and part of Johnson’s own conservative party already think he should resign. Johnson himself says that the rules have been complied with.
