Boris Johnson fined for violating corona rules with ‘party gate’ Abroad

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be fined for violating corona rules. Finance Minister Rishi Sunak was also fined. Earlier in the day it was announced that the number of corona fines for government employees had risen from twenty to more than fifty.

Johnson and Sunak were notified by police on Tuesday, a spokesman for Johnson’s office said. The two politicians are being fined for attending parties when England was under lockdown due to the corona pandemic.

British police are investigating twelve meetings with government employees at 10 Downing Street, Johnson’s office, among others. The affair surrounding parties and drinks is known as the ‘party gate’.

Johnson’s position came under heavy pressure earlier this year because of the scandal. Several members of his Conservative Party called for his resignation. Labor opposition leader Keir Starmer has again called for Johnson to leave after the fines were announced. He believes that Sunak should also resign.
