Six-time Grand Slam winner Boris Beckerin, 54, the trial began Monday in London. According to the prosecutor, Becker has acted dishonestly.

The prosecutor says Becker did not surrender his funds, including his Wimbledon doubles trophies, when he was declared bankrupt in 2017.

– This is what Becker did before and after his bankruptcy. He did not disclose or supply his assets and valuables, the prosecutor said, according to Reuters.

Becker is now on trial for 24 charges, all related to bankruptcy.

Nine of the charges relate to the holding of trophies and other prizes, although the bankruptcy order required Becker to provide all information about his assets.

The seven indictments concern the concealment of properties worth a total of EUR 1.5 million.

– These are everyday problems with dishonesty and information. That’s the crux of the whole thing, the prosecutor argues.

Money for ex-wife

It has been reported in the past that Becker would also have hidden Australian open trophies and his Olympic gold from creditors. According to the charges, the ex-player hid his prizes so that they would not be sold to pay off debts.

In October 2020, the prosecutor alleged that Becker had concealed his property from other people as well. He transferred more than 44 million euros to his ex-wife Barbara Beckerille in 2017. The couple divorced in 2001.

To his second wife To Sharlely Becker he transferred just over 105,000 euros. The couple divorced in 2018.

The former number one on the world tennis list denies the charges. The trial is expected to take three weeks.

Becker won the Wimbledon singles three times. He was the youngest Wimbledon-winning male player ever.
