If it is up to the municipality of Borger-Odoorn, construction of a residential area near Borger-West will start in about three years. The municipality has purchased a piece of land west of the N34 for this purpose.
The land is part of the Koesteeg location, where the municipality wants to build homes between 2025 and 2030. According to councilor Henk Zwiep, this concerns affordable houses for everyone, but also special housing options. “We see opportunities here for apartments, rows of houses and semi-detached houses. It should be a healthy mix of purchase and rental, for starters and seniors, among others.”
The municipality wants to complete the procedures next year, so that preparing the land for construction can start in 2025. A year later, the first shovel has to be broken for the construction of houses. Residents of Borger can contribute ideas about the development of this area.
