Following a strategy already practiced with other successful titles, Netflix has recently produced Borgen – Power and glory, spin-off of a Danish series which, thanks to the platform, had obtained a global relaunch.

Produced by Adam Price starting from 2010 (it also had a free passage in Italy, on LaEffe), the series is a political drama that investigates the world of Danish power, its intrigues, alliances, the complex relationships between media and politics.

Now the streaming giant has produced a spin-off, with a title of its own, but that in fact it represents the fourth season of a series that increasingly takes on the flavor of the saga.

The protagonist Birgitte Nyborg (Sidse Babett Knudsen), who played the female prime minister in Denmark, now holds the role of foreign minister, competing with the current prime minister, who is also a female.

The discovery of oil fields in Greenland is the trigger of new political tensions, but also of powerful reflections on environmental issuesenergy self-sufficiency and geopolitical balances in the increasingly turbulent international context.

“Borgen” in Danish is “the castle”, or Christiansborg Palace, the seat of the main national powers.

For those who love psychological political thrillers and deal with institutions of different cultures.
