She’s on the run of her life right now, or rather, the runs of her life. Because the 35-year-old Joyce Hübner crosses the German border, that’s a total of 5200 kilometers and 120 marathons in 140 days.
The social media star started in Frankfurt/Oder on Monday and reached Saxony after four days. On Saxon soil, she was immediately stopped by the police in Rothenburg. When she was on her way to the hotel with her boyfriend after the end of her fourth marathon, they got caught in a general traffic check in their car near the University of the Saxon Police.
When the two inmates were asked if they were going on vacation, the Berliner explained with a laugh that she was the “loony” crossing the German border. For this she received an “Oh great” and one of the police officers even said that he had read about her running adventure.
After the somewhat different traffic check by students from the police academy, the runner continued to the hotel. Before that, she appealed to the police to run along. “It would be super funny if one or two police officers in full gear were at the start on Saturday. We let ourselves be surprised,” said the customer advisor in her Videos on Instagram.
After a rest day, the 5th marathon stage will take place from Saxon Unfavort to Görlitz on Saturday – with or without a police escort.
In May we will travel along the Polish and Czech borders, continuing via Passau (May 29) and Berchtesgarden (June 4).
The hardest day will have 2640 meters of altitude. “From mid-June it will be a little more relaxed when I’m at Lake Constance,” says the runner. At the end of July she wants to be on the North Sea, running the German coast from west to east. On September 20th (!) Frankfurt/Oder is the destination. A few days buffer are planned. But she has to be back at work by November 1 at the latest, as she has been on unpaid leave for so long.
Joyce: “I try to take the direct border route, otherwise stay as close as possible. But sometimes it’s just cross-country. Luckily I like to walk alone. But I am very happy about people who want to accompany me at times. You can follow the tour on my website.”
Her friend Sven (41) always stays nearby by car, has clothes (twelve pairs of shoes) and food with him, organizes the hotels. Washing is only done every three weeks. The Berliner: “I don’t yet know how my body will react and I hope that something like getting used to it will happen. I need water at least two to three liters a day, protein bars, sports gels, liquid food, etc.
Joyce Hübner has often traveled to Germany. “But I usually go on vacation by train or by car. Of course I know most of the big cities. Was already as a child at the Baltic Sea and in the Spreewald. But at the same time you don’t know so many areas yet. For example, I’ve never been to Saarland.”
