What is he aan de hand?
The city of Mechelen and the designated Boortmeerbeek go to fuseren. Wettelijk can de fusie wel pas vanaf 2025 ingaan. Het is de bedoeling intussen nog heel wat te consulteren, te informeren en te beraadslagen. Also in Mechelen the opposition is critical. “We zijn absolutely not tegen fusies maar zien de logica van deze keuze niet”, aldus Stefaan Deleus, fractieleider van CD&V Mechelen. “He is the grandson of the same working association at the moment, we have to say that other things are more logical.”
For the sake of CD&V, a referendum was organized and the population was planned over the future.
