Bonn and FC Bayern follow Berlin and Ludwigsburg to the semi-finals

The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich and Telekom Baskets Bonn have qualified for the playoff semi-finals of the basketball Bundesliga.

Both the Munich team against the Niners Chemnitz and the Bonn team against the Hamburg Towers prevailed in the third game of their best-of-five series and entered the second round with 3-0 wins. This is where Munich and Bonn meet.

The Munich team had to go into extra time in Chemnitz, but held their own there with 87:80 (41:31). Nihad Djedovic became the match winner with two threes in overtime. After the Saxons had dominated the third quarter with 32:16 and turned the game around, the guests came back with a strong defense in the fourth period. Nick Weiler-Babb led Bayern with 19 points.

The people of Bonn prevailed in Hamburg with 95:88 (48:54). As in the first two games, the Bonn team caught up from a half-time deficit, Parker Jackson-Cartwright dominated again: The most valuable player of the season scored eleven of his 31 points in the last four minutes and threw his team to victory with the decisive three-pointer. For the first time since 2009, Bonn is in the playoff semifinals.

On Thursday, Alba Berlin and the MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg had already reached the semi-finals without defeat. Thus, for the first time since the 1988/89 season, all four quarter-final series of the BBL have been decided by “sweep” (3:0). At that time, however, two wins were enough to advance.
