The clothing supplier Bonita GmbH made significant progress in the 2022 financial year. According to a statement published on Friday, annual sales were 120 million euros, 36 percent above the previous year’s level. According to the company, sales grew by six percent compared to 2019, the year before the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic.
The retail chain owed the significant increase to strong sales growth in its own branches (+32 percent) and “in the area of concession areas at retail partners” (+55 percent). In addition, sales in the online business have doubled within a year, according to a statement.
The managing partner Karsten Oberheide was accordingly satisfied with the latest development: “Bonita – despite the challenges – is back on a sustainable growth course faster than expected. We can be proud of that,” he said in a statement. “The consistent implementation of our brand strategy with a focus on the demanding best-ager customer shows clear successes.”
Bonita filed for bankruptcy in the summer of 2020. A little later, a group of investors led by Managing Director Oberheide took over the company as part of a management buyout from the previous parent company, Tom Tailor Holding. In March 2021, the retail chain successfully completed its restructuring process.
Now the company is focusing on further growth. “After 20 new branches were opened last year, the expansion concept for 2023 and 2024 envisages the opening of a total of 50 additional Bonita stores,” said the retailer. In addition, “the expansion of concession areas at retail partners is being prioritized and the continuous expansion of e-commerce is being promoted”.
