LLuca Guadagnino leads to Venice Film Festival one of his more films successful, disturbing, exciting and divisive. Guadagnino dares: joins the horror of Suspiria to sentimentality of Call me by my name banging us in the face bloodmeals of human flesh (Bone and All refers to the “complete meal” of a body) and one love story between a bewildered eighteen year old (Taylor Russell) and a lonely wanderer (Timothée Chalamet). Together they try to believe that a “real” life for different them is possible.
Bones and All: the plot
We are in the 80s. Marven (the talented Russell) is 18 years old, she lives in Maryland with her father, a man who keeps her under lock and key, but he is not the classic master father, in reality he has good reasons to act like this: the daughter since the age of three years he has enjoyed eating human flesh (his first victim was the babysitter). Marven is still in the grip of this urge which forces the two to wander from one place to another. One day the girl is alone, without her father who has decided to abandon her to her fate. Since that time Marven begins a journey in search of his roots. Crossing various states (from Maryland to Kentucky to Missouri) he meets the old man Sully (Mark Rylance), who smelled her from a distance, and the young Lee (Chalamet), a pink-haired wanderer who escaped from his family and also a cannibal.
