Bone fractures and bruises: extremely busy day in plaster room due to slipperiness

The plaster masters of the Bravis hospital had their hands full on Friday morning with victims of the slippery roads. “This was extreme,” a hospital spokesperson told Omroep Brabant. Fractures and bruises followed each other at breakneck speed.

Many patients visited the plaster rooms with broken bones due to the slippery winter weather. The Bravis hospital has two locations where there are also two First Aid stations. One is in Roosendaal and one in Bergen op Zoom, where they are more specialized in trauma care.

Operation
In Roosendaal, twice as many people had to have a photo taken as usual. It is not known exactly how many there were. And it was also very busy in Bergen op Zoom. 24 people came to the hospital with broken bones and bruises.

“There were 17 people who fell by bicycle, five of them were hospitalized.” One patient even had to be operated on. Three people slipped away with their car and had to be treated. “They almost never experience this,” says the spokesperson.

Accidents and slips
The slipperiness caused accidents and slips in many places on Friday morning. Things went wrong in Hedikhuizen, Mill, Tilburg and Gemert, among others. A child was injured in Mill when the car went off the road. In Hedikhuizen, a motorist ended up in the ditch.
