Abdullah Abat, who has been the chairman of Spor Toto 1st League team Boluspor for 2 years, and his management announced that they resigned in a written statement. Announcing that he had announced his resignation to Bolu Mayor Tanju Özcan on April 22, Abat said, “In order not to leave a Boluspor Club that was left unclaimed in a very difficult process about two years ago, we were compelled by our Mayor Tanju Özcan to resign as Boluspor Club President last season and to resign. Tanju Özcan, who insistently asked us to continue for one more season despite my request, apologized to our president and informed him that I resigned from my duty as of April 22, 2022 in the last period we came to.

Expressing that Boluspor should gain a new excitement and dynamism, Chairman Abat said, “As of now, I see that there has been no movement or formation in order not to take any responsibility. In order not to be too late, me and my board friends both economically and mentally in the two-year period. We are very worn out, we declare that we have resigned from our duty, that we have returned the club management and keys to the address where we took the job. We have full faith that our team will be more successful in the coming seasons, both economically and sportively, with the points it will get in the remaining four games. As elected and appointed under the leadership of Tanju Özcan, they should all gain a new excitement and dynamism.”
Stating that they could not find sufficient financial support at the end of his statement, Abat said, “We are resigning from our duties as a chairman and board of directors who could not receive sufficient financial support from the very beginning and have been stalled with promises, turned into a snake story, none of the financial support promises were kept, and there was no financial and psychological strength to endure. Boluspor team needs to consolidate its place in the league by forgetting the two-year period in which sufficient support has not been provided so far, and making the most material and moral support felt in the last four games,” he said.
