Ski coach Marcus Cramer was a confidant of top Russian skiers for a long time. The German coach of the Russian national team for seven years worked closely with, among other things Alexander Bolshunov and By Sergei Ustyugov with.

However, the war started by Russia first moved Cramer to remote coaching and eventually cut off the cooperation completely, because the salary payment was no longer successful due to the banks’ sanctions.

In an interview with NRK, Cramer says that he received fierce feedback from Norway. This was presumably at least partly due to the fact that the Russian national team visited Holmenkollen at the beginning of March.

– It was crazy, the man updates.

– Especially the messages from Norwegians. I was shocked by what they wrote and what they thought.

Cramer says the flood of messages was timed to the start of the war.

– When it was decided that I would retire from the Russian national team, they (messages) suddenly stopped. But especially in the beginning the messages were really ugly. I can’t show them to my wife.

According to Luots, athletes and coaches are the wrong target for feedback. A professor of the Russian language at the University of Oslo contacted by NRK Atle Grønn says that he himself has received hate messages due to his work background, but also emphasizes the responsibility of those foreigners who have voluntarily gone to cooperate with the Russians.

– Cramer and I, who are professionally connected to Russia, have an obligation to talk about a situation where Russia starts a war against a neighboring country, Grønn sees.

In May, Cramer was hired at the helm of the Italian national team.
