The rock band Bökkers is closing this year’s Liberation Festival Drenthe at the Baggelhuizerplas in Assen. The band made a new start last year.
Singer Hendrik Jan Bökkers gathered a new line-up around him last year. The band consists of Jeroen Sweers (keyboardist), Jim Zwinselman (guitarist), Bart Petter (bassist) and Stef Hoekjen (drummer). The band from Salland will perform on the RTV Drenthe Mainstage during the liberation festival on Thursday 5 May from 10.30 pm to 11.30 pm.
The liberation festival in Assen will be opened by the Drenthe singer-songwriter Jason Staal. In the context of “Songs 4 Freedom” he recorded a song with Rosa da Silva from Klazienaveen, in collaboration with the province and the liberation festival. He will perform this song during the festival. Jason Staal will be on the mainstage from 12 noon.
Suzan & Freek will act as Ambassadors of Freedom on 5 May. They fly by helicopter to several stages in the Netherlands. Other artists performing in Assen include The Cool Quest, The Partysquad, De Hofnar and Billy the Kit.
