The Flemish initiative BoerBurgerBelangen wants to become a political party and thus attract the voters. That is what inspirer Tine Hermans said in De Ochtend on Radio 1.
‘BoerBurgerBelangen’ is grafted onto BoerBurgerBeweging (BBB), the Dutch party that caused a political landslide in the provincial elections more than a week ago. BBB represents the interests of Dutch farmers and became the largest in all provinces under the leadership of Caroline van der Plas.

The Facebook group that Hermans set up in the wake of this already has 13,000 members. “If we see how many people support our initiative and offer to help from all over Flanders, I think we should go for it,” says Hermans in De Ochtend. BoerBurgerBelangen has ambitions to attract voters. “We are organizing to move in that direction. That’s the purpose.”
“We are surrounding ourselves well and we are going to make progress,” says Hermans. “Of course we get a lot of support from the farmers, but there are a lot of people who want a change in politics. The signal in the Netherlands has made that clear and people here also feel that way.”
