In the Molenstraat in Boekel, several households are tormented by an extreme rotten egg smell. It is not known where this comes from. Several households are sheltered in a nearby café because the stench is so bad. The fire brigade is on site to flush the sewer and investigate.
“In some places the smell is less, but in other places it almost hurts your neck,” says a 112 correspondent. The odor would mainly hang in a number of houses and could be smelled around the sewer.
Yet the municipality does not yet dare to say where the smell comes from. In some houses the stench is so bad that the residents have been evacuated. It is not yet known whether they will be able to sleep at home again next night. Until then, they are taken care of in a café down the street.
