Body Positivity, word to the image maker Diego Dalla Palma

Body positivity, what comes to mind?

I’ve had a certainty for a long time: beauty is singularity, originality. Everything that surprises is beautiful. Everything that amazes is beautiful. Everything that revolutionizes our certainties and leaves us enchanted in the face of the unimaginable is beautiful. Uniqueness is beautiful.

What is your idea of beauty?

The concept of beauty has changed radically compared to the past. And it changes day by day in an impressive way. Very often those who lead cosmetic companies do not make this consideration and continue to live in a world that concerns the past, which concerns yesterday. There are those who are beginning to understand that the beauty today is a much more democratic concept, which is within everyone’s reach, which is no longer called beauty, which is starting to be called atypicality, which is starting to be called, as I say, “sparkle”, which is starting to have completely different values and parameters.

We like the concept of sparkle, what is it?

It’s a torch, yesalways lit and burning in the storm. The lKilling is what those who have suffered carry inside, accepted and understood his own destiny. But there can be no sparkle without pain.

But what does all this have to do with beauty?

Pain is necessary. It leads you to a confrontation with yourself, a a continuous introspection from which one emerges with a gaze within which beauty, hit by a thousand arrows, it rises even more powerful and invincible.

She will go on stage with a show whose title is the beauty associated with imperfection. Does he tell us about it?

Was Giancarlo Marinelli, artistic director of the Classics of the Olimpico in Vicenza to ask me, without him I wouldn’t have thought of it. It happened like this, just at the moment in which I wanted to retrace my life, my world, the many professional travails, beyond success. So I realized I hadn’t never stopped looking for what lies beyond appearances.

So I decided to bring it to the stage “the uncomfortable beauty” through a journey made of evocations, images, thoughts, music and memories. I tried to develop my concepts of beauty through those of courage, diversity, pain, awareness, discipline, and finally destiny.

How does the show unfold?

Through significant episodes of my existence and that of my parents, focusing especially on those related to my life mother: the figure “with the look of embers that tear the night”, the one who gave me concrete examples and teachings that made me become who I am. In every evening, surprisingly, famous actresses and women will intervene to testify how that woman had a special strength within her, a particular way of being a mother, a very original way of understanding and interpreting female seductive power.

A way of being that has shaped my personality and my talents and continues to accompany me in my professional career and beyond. Where can we see it in the theater? The debut (scheduled for October 19th, then 20th and 21st) it can only take place in one of the most astonishing and prestigious theaters in the world, a masterpiece by Andrea Palladio, a heavenly place of the sublime: the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza. To follow, al Parioli of Rome on November 11 and 12, and at the Theater Manzoni in Milan on 5 and 6 December.
