Body of missing Silvia (24) found in water in Westerpark in Amsterdam

Police divers found the body of the missing Silvia (24) in Amsterdam’s Westerpark this afternoon. She was last seen Saturday night at the funfair in the park.

Rescue dogs, called in by family and friends, were engulfed in the tracks. Then the police were alerted and the police divers actually found the body. Part of the park was cordoned off.

The body then had to be carefully removed from the water and it had yet to be determined whether it was indeed the missing 24-year-old woman. Her family was then informed. It therefore took some time before the police could confirm that it was indeed the woman.

The Spanish Silvia had been living in Amsterdam for four months. Friends put up flyers in the hope that they would get tips about her disappearance. According to them, her clothes and telephone were found on the bank of a puddle in the Westerpark on Saturday evening.

A police spokesperson said there are no indications or signs of a crime. “A few things are still being run to be sure. It was quickly established that there were no traces on her body that indicate violence or another crime.”
