The body was discovered in the Hooiweg in Melsbroek, a sub-municipality of Steenokkerzeel, near the golf courses and the water basin of the airport. The Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office has been informed. “This morning around 06.15 a.m. a body was found by a hiker on a hiking trail (Hooiweg) in Melsbroek next to a golf course,” says public prosecutor Gilles Blondeau. “It concerns a 50-year-old man from Sint-Joost-ten-Noode. The public prosecutor’s office has appointed the lab and a law doctor who came to the scene this morning.”
The area is currently closed off. “At first sight, no traces of violence or intervention by third parties were found. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.”
