Body of 37-year-old fisherman retrieved from Bruges ring canal

“We received a report from people who saw fishing material but no fisherman,” says Lien Depoorter of the Bruges police. “How the man ended up in the water is not clear, but an investigation has been launched.” Passers-by became concerned and alerted the emergency services. The victim is a man who was born in the year 1986 and who was probably fishing last night at the Vlotkom of the Ringvaart.

The public prosecutor has appointed a law doctor, but there are no more details about the death for the time being.
