In the night from Friday to Saturday, there was a fatal shooting in the parking lot of the MJC cultural center in Komen-Warneton. The city borders the West Flemish municipalities of Wervik and Heuvelland, but also France. The victim, 21-year-old Youness Allach from Komen, died on the spot. The perpetrator fled with his car but collided with a pole at the French border near a bridge. He did not hesitate and then jumped into the Leie. That way he could escape from the police. A manhunt was conducted, divers from the fire brigade also came to the scene, but the perpetrator was not found. The shooting itself would have framed itself in a settlement.
A body was suddenly found in the Leie on Monday evening. And that near where the perpetrator jumped into the water last weekend. It is more than likely the perpetrator of the fatal shooting. The wide area in both Belgium and France is completely closed off by the police.
