Patty Brard strongly disapproves of the fact that an anonymous twitterer has threatened to buy an IKEA bath and drown in it Farmer Seeks Woman candidate Maud. “That’s going too far.”
Farmer Searches Woman is back on television and that is a joy for anyone who likes to watch socially awkward people and painful silences. And for Angela de Jong this is the ultimate example of ‘irritainment’. She is particularly annoyed by candidate Maud. “I don’t think Maud is a bad person. Maud is alone a lot. Maud is very confident.”
IKEA bath
But what does Angela find most irritating about Maud? “Her most annoying feature is that she pronounces every word and syllable very (pause) over-pressurly (pause). Just like Minister Kaag,” she writes in her AD column†
Angela is not the only one who is bothered by Maud, says Patty Brard at the Shownieuws desk. “Evert and I had a look on Twitter together before the broadcast started and there are real reactions like: ‘I buy an IKEA bath and I’m drowning!’”
That is going too far, they think at Shownieuws. “Very strange people look at Farmer Wants Woman,” said Evert Sankrediets.
Ridiculous
Patty thinks it’s ridiculous. “Yes, you can irritate someone, but to say that you buy a bath… KRO-NCRV says: ‘Yes, we guide people.’ But the biggest announcement they make is, “Don’t check Twitter.”
She fears Maud greatly. “I know from experience that if you make reality – and I’ve had some series of that – that if you put a camera on people and these are the reactions, people can get very lost. (…) I am a bit concerned about that.”
Completely himself
By the way, Patty and Evert are fans of Maud. “That woman is completely herself,” he says.
And she: “Yes, but that’s why I love her so much. The rest are chewing on that sandwich a bit.”
Tooske Ragas: “Anyway, not everyone is so enthusiastic on Twitter.”
