Bobic on Korkut future – “Will comment tomorrow”

The sporting director of the capital club talks about the situation at Hertha after the defeat at Borussia Mönchengladbach. Things are getting tighter for coach Tayfun Korkut.

0: 2 at Borussia Mönchengladbach, still without a win in 2022, slipped to the direct relegation zone 17 – the needs at Hertha BSC are getting bigger after the bankruptcy on Saturday evening. How does the club want to turn the tide? Managing Director Fredi Bobic commented on the situation at the capital club after the game – and made an announcement about Tayfun Korkut’s personnel.

The renewed defeat and even worse situation means for the coach’s position “that we will discuss it in peace tomorrow morning, then we will see,” said Bobic on “Sky”. He’s not one to make big announcements right after a game. He will discuss with Korkut himself, as well as with the club leadership. Bobic reiterated: “There will be no banging.” And: “We will comment on this tomorrow.” It seems more than unlikely that Hertha will actually continue with Korkut.

Bobic didn’t blame the team itself after the appearance in Gladbach: “They threw everything in, they fought.” The penalty was “annoying”. In the second half “the game was more open”, it was “always on”. At the corner, which led to 0:2, you “slept”.

Korkut: “A lot of things came together”

All in all, nobody at Hertha “thought that we wouldn’t get a point in the second half of the season.” It is now important “that we get the momentum on our side in such a phase. We have to do it, otherwise it will be difficult.” But he still has hope “that the boys will do better.”

Coach Tayfun Korkut reacted calmly to the renewed defeat with Hertha BSC at Borussia Mönchengladbach with regard to his own future. “I also know that nobody is above the club,” Korkut said on Saturday night.

“There are many things that came together,” said Korkut himself, who only took over as coach in November, about the reasons for Hertha’s sporting misery. The trainer also indicated that the unrest in the club’s environment was problematic: “I’m responsible for the sporting situation. Everything around it isn’t always as you imagine it to be. But it should never be be an alibi.”
