The life of reggae legend Bob Marley has been filmed. It was announced in March 2021 that Paramount Pictures would direct the biopic, which will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green (“King Richard”). Filming began in December 2022 with 37-year-old Briton Kingsley Ben-Adir (“The OA”, “High Fidelity”) as Bob Marley. Now the first trailer for the work has been released, which allows a first vibe check on “Bob Marley: One Love”.

The biopic revolves around Marley’s early years – his rise to fame as a music star, culminating in his assassination in 1976 and at the Smile Jamaica Concert just two days later.
The film, which was produced by Marley’s descendants, Cedella and Ziggy, and his former wife, Rita Marley, is slated to hit theaters on January 12, 2024. Joining Ben-Adir in the lead are Lashana Lynch as Marley’s wife Rita and James Norton as the Rolling Stones’ Mick Jagger, as well as supporting roles Tosin Cole, Anthony Welsh, Michael Gandolfini, Umi Myers and Nadine Marshall. The screenplay was done by Zach Baylin, Frank E. Flowers and Terence Winter.
