Bob Dylan has announced a new box set. “The Complete Budokan 1978” will feature rare live recordings of the folk singer made during his first tour in Japan. Dylan’s premiere in the Land of the Rising Sun took place as part of his 1978 world tour.
The comprehensive collection consists of four CDs, on which all the pieces have been subjected to a sound remaster. There will also be a vinyl version consisting of eight records, but it will only be available exclusively in Japan. In addition to Dylan’s unmistakable music, the box set also contains other extras such as a sixty-page photo book, original tickets and posters from back then.
Bob Dylan already has a first taste for his fans. Like all the other songs on the compilation, “The Man in Me” was recorded during his performance at the Nippon Budokan Hall in Tokyo. Just this summer, Dylan visited Japan again on his “Rough and Rowdy Tour”. He also worked as a consultant for director James Mangold on his Dylan biopic.
