Built between 1911 and 1914, the mansion was originally built for a Scotsman To Archibald Merrilees as a holiday home. His father was a merchant who had made his fortune by establishing the first department store in Russia. The family lost the mansion and their money during the Russian Revolution. Since then, the manor has served, among other things, as a hunting lodge, a wedding venue and a hospital during the Second World War.
Dylan is known as a great lover of Scotland and Scottish folk music.
