The boat of the New York fire brigade that collided with another ship on the East River last month and in which the Diksmuids firefighter Johnny Beernaert (53) was killed, was not allowed to be used for pleasure trips. This is reported by the American newspaper ‘New York Post’. Also the right personnel would not have been on board.
