BMX star Smulders grabs next to victory in the world cup at Papendal
BMX star Laura Smulders missed the victory at the World Cup in Papendal. In the final she had to give way to Zoé Claessens from Switzerland. Judy Baauw finished fifth. Merel Smulders was seventh and Manon Veenstra eighth.
In the men’s race, the victory went to Frenchman Sylvain André. He won ahead of his compatriot Jérémy Rencurel and the Australian Izaac Kennedy. None of the Dutch BMX riders managed to reach the final. Justin Kimmann and Jay Schippers were eliminated in the semifinals.
There is another World Cup race in Papendal on Sunday.
