For now we have made a simple sketch of the front, it being understood that the camouflaged BMW i7, the camouflaged electric flagship, has appeared several times in recent years, taken up in the most diverse situations. But it is another story when in the annual press conference, the house talks about the debut and shows ‘a little something’. In the specific case, and images have shown the structure of the headlights and the grille, with an extra-large double kidney, which not only develops in height but also in width, drawing two large octagonal areas joined on the inside and surrounded by a luminous profile. . Aligned with the upper edge, the LED lights of the front headlamps, even thinner than on the iX, of the traditional double round eye of Monaco cars retain a very distant echo, recalled only by being two light segments paired on each side. To give the teaser an extra touch the official tweet: “When did you last experience progression? Meet modern, bold, innovation. The i7. Coming soon”. We translate: “When did you last experience progress? Meet the modern, the daring, the innovation. The i7. Coming soon.”

GREAT AUTONOMY

In the presentation, BMW also provided some numbers, the most important of which concerns the declared autonomy on the Wltp cycle, which should be between 580 and 610 kilometers, thanks to a generous battery – the capacity has not been declared, but will presumably be the same as the iX, therefore above 110 kWh in the largest cut – and with low fuel consumption (between 19.7 and 18.9 kWh / 100 km, according to the House). The powertrain is still the fifth generation eDrive. From Monaco they also let it be known that the i7 will be the most powerful in the range of the new 7, which would suggest, as already happens for iX, a variant with the letter M in the initials for the joy of those looking for pure performance. And the CEO of the Bavarian company, Oliver Zipse, wanted to emphasize that the car will have the best of the technology developed by the BMW group.

STELLAR INTERIORS

The passenger compartment will feature spectacular solutions, such as the BMW Theater screen, a 31-inch high-resolution 32: 9 panoramic screen that descends from the roof to transform the rear seats into cinema seats, or the light strip, called BMW. Interaction bar, which runs along the dashboard and doors and integrates a number of functions via haptic commands. The dashboard will be dominated by the large curved display that has already found its place on the iX, managed by the latest generation of the iDrive operating system. The My modes function will allow the driver to customize the interior lighting and driving characteristics, while the Sky Lounge panoramic glass roof will radiate light into the passenger compartment, increasing the feeling of space and well-being on board. The rest of the car – a lot – will be discovered in a month. And BMW plays with it skilfully, with the marketing sense “Powerful and present. The all-new, fully-electric Bmw i7 will offer top digital performance and highly-progressive functions. More to come on April 20th. Are you ready?” was another official tweet. It means: “Powerful and present. The all-new all-electric BMW i7 will offer maximum digital performance and cutting-edge features. More will arrive on April 20. Are you ready?”.
