Blur have now confirmed the rumors themselves: After it was rumored weeks ago that the legendary Britpop band would play a big concert in 2023 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their album PARKLIFE, this has now been announced. On July 8, 2023, Damon Albarn and Co. will perform at Wembley Stadium.
On Facebook, Blur posted the date as an event and posted a 30-second teaser video:
The pre-sale starts on November 18th at 10am GMT. “Special Guests” are also set to perform, but names have not yet been revealed.
Most recently, Blur released THE MAGIC WHIP in 2015 and several singles before that. In Germany, Austria and Switzerland the record reached the top 5. In the UK, it even debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, making it Blur’s sixth number one album. 100,000 copies were sold – THE MAGIC WHIP was certified gold.
In the meantime, Damon Albarn has been active again, both solo and with his comic book band Gorillaz. On February 24, 2023, she will release her eighth record, CRACKER ISLAND. Blur drummer Dave Rowntree recently announced a solo album.
Further concerts or even new music by Blur have not yet been announced.
