Scott Derrickson’s horror thriller “The Black Phone” celebrated its theatrical release in June. The film is based on the book of the same name by writer Joe Hill, son of Stephen King. Ethan Hawke takes on the lead role. He plays the masked child kidnapper nicknamed “The Grabber”.
Storyline of “The Black Phone”
The film is set in 1978 in North Denver, Colorado. Finney Shaw and his sister Gwen are regularly beaten by their alcoholic father. He specifically targets his daughter, which her brother, who is being bullied at school, has to witness. At the same time, an unknown man with the pseudonym “The Gripper” kidnapped several children in their neighborhood after he gave them drugs. One of Finney’s friends has also suddenly disappeared. When Finney rides his bike home from a baseball game, he becomes his next victim. There is a black telephone in the perpetrator’s basement that rings regularly. His sister Gwen does everything to find her brother.
