Belgium is facing five lean years, the IMF now predicts. The Belgian economy will almost completely come to a standstill until 2028 – while most other European countries are progressing. A gloomy prospect, as a result of which our Treasury slips even deeper into the red danger zone. State Secretary for the Budget Alexia Bertrand (Open Vld) is aware of the urgency: “Everyone will have to make an effort.”
