Kele Okereke explains: “We are very proud of these four tracks and they hopefully offer a little bridge between ALPHA GAMES and what the band is up to next”.
British indie rock band Bloc Party have announced a new EP, THE HIGH LIFE, out July 21st via Infectious/BMG. This was announced by the group around singer Kele Okereke on Wednesday (June 21) via Instagram. The news comes two months after Bloc Party released the title track of the same name in April. In addition, “Keep It Rolling”, the first joint song with the American rapper and singer Kenny Hoopla, was released at the beginning of the month.
According to the official press release, the new EP will consist of four tracks. Except for the already mentioned title track, the other three song titles are not yet known. Bloc Party are currently opening for Paramore’s North American tour, followed by a couple of festival dates in the UK. “When we were invited to the Paramore tour, we were keen to get together to capture the state of the band and share this music with others,” Okereke is quoted as saying in the EP’s press release.
He adds: “We went into the studio with our friend Charlie Andrew and this EP was the result – we’re very proud of these four tracks and they hopefully provide a little bridge between ALPHA GAMES and what the band is up to next. For me it’s the sound of getting out of the wild and rediscovering life.” ALPHA GAMES – the British band’s latest album – was released in April 2022 and was rated 4 out of 6 stars by ME author Sven Kabelitz.
