Blazing fire in Amsterdam-Zuid home, partygoers have to leave the street

A large fire broke out in a house at the Sarphatipark in Amsterdam South this afternoon. According to a reporter on site, there is a lot of smoke development and revelers have left the street and the adjacent Sarphatipark.

The street has been cordoned off. Many emergency services are present. Visitors in Sarphatipark and on the street are noticeably bothered by the smoke and hold their clothes or cloths in front of their mouths.

A spokesman for the fire service said around 1:50 p.m. that the fire was almost out. The fire started on the ground floor and spread briefly at the rear. No one was in the building at the time the fire started.

Ambulance personnel have checked someone who was present in a building next to the house because of smoke inhalation. A dog was also taken from a neighboring house. It is checked by the animal ambulance.

Extinguishing

The fire service is still extinguishing the fire and is carrying out some demolition work. It is not yet known when the street will be released.

A free market has been organized in the park since this morning. The police have asked the people who were there to leave the street and leave the flea market stuff behind.
