Blauw-Wit turned out to be no match for LDODK this afternoon. The team of Erik van Brenk and Mark van der Laan lost 26-23 in Gorredijk at the number two of the Korfbal League.
For Gerald Aukes, the encounter with Blauw-Wit meant a duel with his previous employer. Last season, Aukes was still working as a coach for the team from Amsterdam.
LDODK and Blauw-Wit were not inferior to each other in the opening phase. After fifteen minutes of play, the home team had a slight lead: 7-6. Just before the end of the first half, LDODK made a small gap of two points.
Small backlog
A legion of substitutions didn’t do the Blues any favors after the break. The team from Amsterdam kept facing a two-point deficit. In the final phase, Mike van der Reep, who became the top scorer with five goals, was one point behind. Femke Faber and Ran Faber then helped LDODK to victory with two hits: 26-23.
Blauw-Wit is stuck in fourth place because of the defeat. The team from Amsterdam will play against KZ next Tuesday. With the Koogers, Blauw-Wit competes for third place in the group, which entitles them to participate in the championship group.
