Nothing seems to stop the Black Keys from their creative process. After all, not even a whole year has passed since the band released their previous album DELTA KREAM. The new record DROPOUT BOOGIE is the duo’s eleventh studio album and is scheduled for release on May 13th of this year. There is already a first harbinger of the record. Watch and hear “Wild Child” streamed here:

On top of that, fans can look forward to another special feature of the album. DROPOUT BOOGIE is the first album since 2019’s LET’S ROCK to feature original songs. As with their previous releases, all of these were conceived in the joint studio of Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney. In terms of sound, the band from Ohio would like to return to their musical roots. They are mainly in blues rock. Among others, Billy F. Gibbons, Greg Cartwright and Angelo Petraglia contribute to the musical support.

It’s been around 20 years since the Black Keys released their debut album THE BIG COME UP. So it’s not surprising that the duo is extremely nostalgic about the beginning of their career together. Singer/guitarist Auerbach said in a statement: “That’s always been the beauty of what Pat and I do. It’s immediate. We never really had to work on it. Whenever we got together we just made music, you know? We didn’t know what we were going to do, but we just did it and it sounded cool. That’s the natural chemistry Pat and I have. Being in a band for so long is a testament to that. It was a real gift that was given to us. I mean, the likelihood of living a block and a half apart in Akron, Ohio is just insane.”

Along with the album announcement, the Black Keys also announced dates for their 32-day US tour.
