DÜSSELDORF/KIEL (dpa-AFX) – A good six weeks after the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia, the state parliament will vote on the Prime Minister in a secret ballot on Tuesday (2 p.m.). Incumbent Hendrik Wüst (CDU) is standing for re-election. The 46-year-old lawyer, who succeeded Armin Laschet (CDU) as head of a black-yellow coalition for eight months, now wants to become head of government of the first black-green alliance in NRW. Both sides signed their 146-page coalition agreement on Monday.
Since the CDU and Greens have a comfortable majority in the Düsseldorf state parliament with 115 out of a total of 195 seats, Wüst’s election in the five-party parliament is considered safe. He needs at least 98 votes. The state parliament administration was not aware of any counter-candidates.
State party conferences of the CDU and Greens approved the coalition agreement with a large majority at the weekend. On Wednesday, the last act of forming a government will take place with the presentation and swearing-in of the black-green cabinet.
A black-green government is also in the offing in Schleswig-Holstein. The coalition agreement should be signed in Kiel in the morning (11 a.m.) if the state party conferences of both parties give the go-ahead the evening before. The re-election of Prime Minister Daniel Günther (CDU) is then planned for Wednesday. In the north, black-green also has a comfortable majority in the state parliament of 48 of the 69 mandates./beg/DP/ngu
