Black cloud of smoke above Uithoorn and Amstelhoek after a major fire

A large fire in Amstelhoek tonight caused a large plume of black smoke that passed over both Amstelhoek and Uithoorn. The fire brigade is currently still busy putting out the fire. One person was checked by the ambulance for smoke inhalation.

Amstelhoek is located just next to Uithoorn, just across the provincial border. The fire could be seen, smelled and heard in part of the region. The thick plume of smoke moved across the water towards Uithoorn, and there were also several loud bangs from exploding gas bottles.

The fire broke out around 8:30 p.m. tonight. “It is still unclear whether the fire is raging in a house or in an adjacent barn or something like that,” said the spokesman for the fire service. At this point, the fire no longer appears to be smoking. “We are still dealing with a gas fire,” the spokesperson explains.

In addition to several fire engines, an ambulance has also been called because a person has inhaled smoke. This has been checked by the paramedics.
