ABBA’s Björn Ulvaeus and his wife Lena have officially split after 41 years of marriage.
The couple announced this via the spokeswoman for the Swedish band, which only released a new record (“Voyage”) last year after an almost similar period of time and wants to revive their musical heritage with upcoming digital shows.
Both want to stay friends
“After many wonderful and eventful years, we have decided to go our separate ways,” the statement said on Wednesday (February 23). According to their own statements, they want to remain close friends and continue to celebrate family celebrations together.
After his failed marriage to ABBA colleague Agnetha Fältskog, with whom he was together from 1971 to 1980, Ulvaeus found a new love with Lena Källersjö and married her in 1981. Their marriage resulted in two daughters, who are now grown up.
