Björn C. from Brandenburg in Ukraine killed

Björn C. (39), from Brandenburg, was one of many Germans who voluntarily fought in Ukraine against the troops of Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin (69).

Björn C. was killed there, according to his unit, the International Defense Legion of Ukraine (ILDU). The volunteer organization did not provide any information about when, where and under what circumstances he died. According to the Foreign Office, the German embassy in Kyiv is trying to clarify and is “in contact with the Ukrainian authorities who have spread the relevant news”.

According to BILD information, the man from Brandenburg died as a result of Russian fire. A comrade tried to save his life, in vain. In BILD the comrade describes the situation.

In its statement, ILDU also honored three other foreigners who lost their lives fighting for Ukraine: “We lost our brothers in battle, but their bravery, memory and legacy will inspire us forever.”

In addition to Björn C., the Dutchman Ronald V. (†55) also served in the volunteer unit. He died in artillery fire near Kharkiv in early May. His comrade, the Frenchman Wilfried B. († 32) was killed on June 1 in the Kharkiv area, as the “Liberationreported.

The volunteer unit also mentioned Michael O. († 47), who was killed a week ago. However, it is unclear whether the Australian fought as a soldier. According to his family, he was said to have transported wounded from the front lines, like “ABCreported.

According to the International Defense Legion, citizens of many countries are fighting on the side of Ukraine, including Denmark, Israel, Poland, Croatia and Great Britain.
