The bizarre interview of presenter Maaike Schoon with Russian ambassador Aleksander Sjoelgin has reached the top 15 viewership. Buitenhof is last on the list.
Maaike Schoon’s Buitenhof interview with the Russian ambassador Aleksander Sjoelgin was quite spicy. She put him completely on the rack. Around noon, 627 thousand people (49% market share) watched the broadcast on NPO 1, putting Buitenhof in last place in the top 15 viewing figure.
Bizarre interview
Aleksander put together a false propaganda story, much to Maaike’s annoyance. Journalist Wouke van Scherrenburg: “I read differing responses to this conversation, so I looked back, 3/4 conversation top interview, but at the end I certainly would have preferred to see how the interviewee could squeeze with fewer interruptions.”
Telegraaf columnist Nausicaa Marbe: “Excellent job. When we see that on the BBC, sharply and with emotion, we cry: ‘Why don’t we have such interviewers?!’ Well, Maaike Schoon did it really hard and rightly so. She cut the man off more bluntly than we are used to, but always torpedoed his lying rhetoric.”
