Bitter EuroLeague defeat for Alba Berlin

The eleven-time German basketball champion Alba Berlin suffered a bitter defeat in the EuroLeague.

In the duel between two teams from the bottom of the table against the Lithuanian champion Zalgiris Kaunas, Alba lost 71:77 (41:48) and was not rewarded for catching up.

For coach Israel Gonzalez’s team it was the 15th defeat in the 18th game, Kaunas is now six wins ahead of Alba.

At the beginning of the fourth round, Berlin was still ten points behind, but then worked their way up step by step. Shortly before the end, the Bundesliga team briefly took the lead with 71:70, but was unable to score any more points.

World champion Johannes Thiemann was the guests’ most successful thrower with 17 points. For the Lithuanian team trained by long-time Bayern coach Andrea Trinchieri, Keenan Evans stood out with 13 points.
