TOcomes from Turkey the new Channel 5 series. It is called Bitter land and takes the place of Brave and Beatiful, another Turkish soap that ended with a happy ending for the two protagonists Cesur and Suhan who saw themselves away on a boat with their child. As well as Brave and Beatifulalso Bitter land airs in the afternoon, from Monday to Friday at 3.45pm.
Bitter landa story of love and revenge
It’s a story of love, jealousy, passion and revenge against the background of the Turkish rural society of the 70s the one told in the new series Bitter land. There protagonist is Zuleyhaa woman who works as a seamstress in Istanbul and is in love with Yilmaz, a mechanic. Their relationship is strong, but it’s the girl’s stepbrother who turns the tables He “gives” it to a man to pay off his gambling debts.
While the latter tries to rape her, Yilmaz intervenes by killing him. It starts here the epic of the two young men forced to leave Istanbul pretending to be brother and sister. The two lovers stop in Adana in the lands of Demir, who falls in love with Zuleyha, and her mother Hünkar.

The characters and actors of Bitter earth
To interpret the combative and courageous Zuleyha Altun, protagonist of Bitter earthis Hilal Altınbilek, Turkish actress and model that we see for the first time in Italy. She was born in 1991 in Izmir, she is in the cast of the successful series which in Turkey has reached its fourth season, since 2018. Alongside Hilal Altınbilek there is Ugur Gunes wearing the role of Yilmaz Akkaya, Zuleyha’s boyfriend who saves her from the attempted violence. Also for him it is an Italian debut. To give life to the character of Demir Yamanthe perfect antagonist, is Murat Unalmis. Vahide Percin, on the other hand, is Hunkar Yaman, Demir’s mother as well as owner of the farm where Zuleyha and Yilmaz find hospitality putting up to their escape.
Another protagonist of the series is the enigmatic Ali Rahmet Fekeli, played by Kerem Alisik. At the moment the only thing that is known is that he will give the Yaman family a hard time.

What will happen in the future
Without wanting to spoil too much, we can anticipate that things will not go smoothly for Zuleyha and Yilmaz. The two lovers, who pretend to be relatives, will be discovered and Zuleyha to save her Yilmaz decides to give in to Demir’s advances. The girl, in fact, will marry Demir becoming in effect a member of the Yaman family.

A successful series
Bitter land has them all what it takes to win over the Italian public as it has already done, first with the Turkish one, and then with that of many other countries. The series, in fact, has already aired with great success with audiences in over 30 countries, including Spain, Mexico, Germany and Argentina. Its production, unlike other Turkish series, is impressive and the setting is meticulous: from the costumes to the location, nothing was left to chance. For the shooting, for example, a huge villa was built in which many takes of the internal environments were concentrated.

The places of the series
There beautiful Istanbul is the backdrop to the beginning of the story by Zuleyha Altun e Yilmaz Akkaya. It is in the big city overlooking the Bosphorus, a crossroads between Europe and Asia, that the two protagonists live. The story, however, moves quickly Cukurova, one of the districts of the Adana province. The original title of the series, in fact, is Bir Zamanlar Cukurovawhat does it mean Once upon a time there was Cukurova. Terra Amara was filmed in the city of Adana, the ancient Antioch of Cilicia which is located in southern Turkey. Other shots were taken in Mersin, a city on the sea not far from Adana. And among the places you can also recognize the Ponte di Varda, railway viaduct symbol of the province of Adana.
How many seasons are there
To date, four seasons have already been produced by Bitter land. The story starring Zuleyha lasts from 141 episodes. The latest episode was broadcast in Turkey on June 16, leaving viewers with bated breath waiting for a fifth season that is already being talked about. To go on air on Canale 5 every afternoon, in the meantime, will be the 35 episodes of the first season of Bitter landoriginally aired in Turkey from September 2018 to June 2019. In Italy the episodes of the first season, however, will become 105 because the duration will not be 150 minutes, but about an hour for each episode.
