The value of bitcoin has risen sharply in recent days and is creeping further upwards. The main digital currency was worth more than $47,000 (almost 43,000 euros) on Monday around 7:30 am. This means that bitcoin is worth almost as much as it was at the beginning of the year. It is not clear what the direct reason for the sharp increase is.
