Bird flu outbreak on poultry farm in Hierden for the second time in a short time: 7,000 ducks culled | Harderwijk

The three poultry farms less than 1 kilometer away are blocked. In addition, it is tested whether the animals there are also infected with bird flu and the farms are under intensive monitoring for, among other things, animal health.

The 21 poultry farms within a radius of 10 kilometers are prohibited from transporting birds and animal products that come from poultry farms.

Europe is currently dealing with the largest bird flu outbreak ever. The virus has already been detected at 38 poultry farms in the Netherlands this year. According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality, a total of more than two million birds were culled.

In our country there are currently measures such as a mandatory cage and a ban on visiting bird habitats of high-risk birds, unless this is absolutely necessary.
