In addition to being a writer, he was initially also an editor, especially at the Flemish publishing house Manteau, where he supervised (and above all corrected) many Flemish writers until he got into an argument with director Julien Weverbergh at the end of the seventies, a conflict of which he could explain in ‘My Flemish years’ (1978), in which he also opened a booklet about the state of Flemish literature.
